Enter the 11th Annual Exposed DC Photo Contest!

January 4th, 2017 Comments off

exposeddc

Exposed DC’s 2017 photo contest is open for entries! This March will be the 11th annual Exposed DC Photography Show, a celebration of living in the Washington, D.C. area. Do you want to see your images of the art, music, food, sports, culture, nostalgia, people and places of this incredible town we live in? The District is too often reduced to a tourist destination or a political mud-pit – but those who live, work, and love here can rise above. The Exposed DC exhibit shows the city only as you know it.

This contest is geared towards photographers who don’t usually exhibit their work, but it is open to all – send in your terrific iPhone shot, or your sharp Leica photo. If you simply love taking pictures, this is your contest. You can submit your work until January 11, 2017, so if you don’t think you have the perfect shot just yet, you have plenty of time to go out and get it! Need inspiration? Check out the winners from our 10th anniversary exhibit

Rules and guidelines for entering the contest and participating in our exhibit are covered in the submission page. Subscribe to our newsletter for all our contest and exhibit updates. If you’d like to volunteer for our team, please drop us a line.

The class will revolve around taking your photography to the next level. How do you become a “better” photographer? What kinds of gear will help your imagery? Students will also learn how composition affects the viewer. In addition, there will be a hands on section that each student will give you the opportunity to use their camera.

The second part of the class will focus on The Digital Darkroom. What are the differences between jpg and raw files? What are the benefits of shooting raw files? And how do we process raw files. Adobe Elements will be briefly talked about as well as Adobe Lightroom.
In addition we will look at two tools for when we take quick shots with our phone; that is Snapseed and The Photographer’s Ephemeris

OCTOBER 30th 10 – 3pm

KeyMission 360

The Nikon KeyMission 360 is a dual-lens action camera that simultaneously captures two 180°+ images in up to Ultra HD 4K resolution at 24 fps and allows you to view them as one.

The KeyMission 360 stitches the two separate images internally and provides you with one 360° spherical VR image. This single image can then be viewed with optional VR goggles or on 360 platforms such as YouTube 360, where you can move around the image in all directions. You can also upload the stitched image into various VR editing software and enhance it before viewing it on goggles or 360 platforms.
The KeyMission 360 features a rugged design and is built to withstand the elements: Without any additional housing, it is waterproof down to 100 ft, shockproof from 6.6 ft, freezeproof, and dustproof. Aside from added convenience, not requiring a housing allows for cleaner image and audio capture, as no additional layers are required between the lenses and mic and your subject. Like the rest of the KeyMission series, the KeyMission 360 uses glass Nikon Nikkor lenses, representing Nikon’s commitment to this lineup.
The KeyMission 360 also features internal electronic Vibration Reduction (for 1080p capture) that will reduce the effects of shakes and jitters in your outdoor adventures, providing you with a smoother final image. A free-to-download Nikon control and playback app is also included with the camera that’s compatible with both iOS and Android mobile devices.
You can also capture Full HD 1080p video at 24 fps, 1440 x 960 video at 25/30 fps, and 29MP still images. In all shooting modes, both lenses automatically work at the same time. Each lens features 7 lens elements in 7 groups and offers approximately a 12″ focusing distance.
The KeyMission 360 comes with a varied set of accessories, including a cage-like Silicone Jacket, lens protector to prevent scratches, and underwater lens protector that will allow you to achieve better focus underwater.
